So that leads me to believe it is a Sata Controller issue on my ASUS board (listed in sig). MS also said it is compatible with Win7 圆4. My diagnoses: A CD/DVD drive is plug and play so that shouldn't be the issue. It will let me search in any storage device attached to the PC. The box asks me if I want it to scan for drivers related to the problem or to browse for the folder myself. It then comes up with a dialog box that says: "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing." and something along the lines of it's safe to insert a driver CD and to remove the install disk. I then click Next and it says "Setup is starting" The computer is quiet for about 5 minutes and then it suddenly kicks up and the DVD drive gets loud. I get all the way to where it asks for your location and keyboard input. I am attempting to install Windows 7 Ultimate KN 圆4 on a brand new 750gb Seagate Barracuda HDD. Motherboard Chipset Nvidia nForce GeForce 8300 Samsung SH-S223B with Firmware SB02 (SATA, not IDE) Windows XP Home x86 build 2600 Service Pack 3Īll drivers are up to date according to Driver Detective for the above OS.

I have installed Win7 Starter with no problems and Win7 Ultimate (not KN) x86 with no problems with a friends CD key and DVD on the same hardware I am attempting to install the 64 bit KN version of Ultimate Ran avast and several online virus websites to check for infections and also ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I also have reburned the ISO and it still didn't work. Nothing in my PC is secondhand and I have been through the process of trial-and-error by switching sata ports around between the HDDs and DVD drive, removing drives that weren't needed for the install, tried different DVD drives, tested my HDD's using S.M.A.R.T., have reinstalled drivers that were already in place and have updated every possible driver down to the USB ports. Things to keep in mind: I burned the OS install DVD at the slowest speed possible and with no applications running. I dont even make it that far in the install anyway, no where near it actually. The iso for Win7 was uploaded to me by a friend that works for a large company. Let me also add that all of my windows keys and DVDs are legit (not pirated). Microsoft (MS) is completely useless and the people at ASUS are like a bunch of monkeys that learned English from a book that was a photocopy of a photocopy with coffee stains. Let me start by saying that I have googled everything and been all over the internet to fix my issue, I spent 8 hours scouring the internet last night.
